Around The Yard – March 2020

Life in the time of COVID-19 means that things are changing daily. Life at Brickyard Creek is no exception. Bayfield and Ashland Counties “advisory” requesting visitors and seasonal homeowners to “stay in their winter residences” is in force until further notice. Wisconsin Governor Evers’s ‘safe at home” order has restaurants, and all but essential business and services closed through April 24th. Bayfield is pretty much shut down. Given that the Federal Government’s extension of the social distancing guidelines through the end of April, it is possible the Governor’s order will be extended as well.

Considering these developments and continuing COVID-19 driven uncertainties, the BYC Board has decided to postpone the traditional Memorial Day Annual meeting and evening Gala until Labor Day Weekend. The tentative (hoped for) new date is Saturday, September 5, 2020. Board elections are postponed until the meeting. All current Board members have graciously agreed to serve until that time.

The Board and Jeff Garrett are monitoring developments daily and will be sending regular updates as new information emerges. In the meantime, please, please be safe and be well. We hope (COVID-19 permitting) to see as many of you as possible at the July 4th Kayak Parade. Parade Marshal Wally Milbrath has ruled that a six kayak length social distancing requirement will be strictly enforced!

We Will Be Back After A Short Break

COVID-19 is far from the only thing that has or is happening at Brickyard. It has been a busy year for the Board and the Manager. There is much to share and report. Important work and decisions lie ahead as well. We will send regular Around the Yard updates and will be looking to offer some Zoom Meeting opportunities for those interested in a more interactive opportunity to engage.

Again, be safe and stay well.
